Breastfeeding education in pregnancy is incredibly valuable for getting your breastfeeding journey off to the best start once baby is born.

During this session, I will come to your home, discuss your feeding goals and medical history, and put in place a tailored plan for you. We will discuss how to respond to baby’s feeding cues, normal feeding behaviour, frequency and duration of feeds, positioning and attachment at the breast, troubleshooting problems, expressing, nappies, and biological infant sleep.

This consultation is available for anyone whose baby is less than 7 weeks old. With a valid Medicare card, Medicare rebates are available, and rebates may be higher if you have reached your Medicare safety net. This home visit includes a full lactation consultancy session, and postnatal midwifery care for Mum and baby. A full history will be taken, and a comprehensive feeding assessment. Baby will be weighed, and a physical assessment of Mum and baby undertaken, including an oral assessment of baby. Support will be given to help baby latch comfortably to the breast, and transfer milk optimally. Guidance will also be given regarding expressing, top up feeds and bottle feeding, if required. A comprehensive feeding plan will be put in place. This consultation includes one week of text support following the appointment. Phone and video consults can also be arranged following, and will be bulk billed if baby is less than 7 weeks old. 

This consultation is appropriate for any babies ages 7 weeks or older. This appointment may also be utilised for babies less than 7 weeks, however no Midwifery care or Medicare rebates will be provided. This home visit includes a full lactation consultancy session. A full history will be taken, and a comprehensive feeding assessment. Baby will be weighed, and an oral assessment of baby undertaken. Support will be given to help baby latch comfortably to the breast, and transfer milk optimally. Guidance will also be given regarding expressing, top up feeds and bottle feeding, if required. A comprehensive feeding plan will be put in place. This consultation includes one week of text support following the appointment. Phone and video consults can also be arranged following, at an additional cost.

These are available for return consults only, if a face to face  appointment is not required. 20 minute and 40 minute consults are available.
